Public Works (Prohibition of Compulsory Acquisition of Māori Land) Amendment Bill

Member's Bill
Published date: 14 Mar 2025

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill amends the Public Works Act 1981 to protect Māori freehold and Māori customary land from being acquired for public works under that Act.
