Residential Tenancies (Registration of Boarding House Landlords) Amendment Bill

Member's Bill
Published date: 01 May 2026

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill makes changes to the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 to require the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to create and maintain a register of boarding houses and boarding house landlords to better monitor compliance with residential tenancy laws.
