Fair Trading (Oppressive Contracts) Amendment Bill

Member's Bill
Published date: 21 Mar 2024

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill proposes to redress the power imbalance in contract terms, contract performance, and contract enforcement by prohibiting unfair contract terms, performance and enforcement, and requiring fair warning of the intention to rely on a limitation period.
