Patents Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 22 May 2025

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill amends the Patents Act 2013 to apply stricter criteria for the grant of divisional applications filed under the Patents Act 1953, so that 1953 Act applications are examined in broadly the same way as 2013 Act applications.
