Crimes (Child Exploitation Offences) Amendment Bill

Member's Bill
Published date: 05 Jul 2024

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill amends the Crimes Act 1961 to provide for new offences relating to persons 18 years or older using electronic communications (such as social media platforms) to harm persons under 16 and increases penalties for offences relating to the sexual grooming of children online.
