Bail (Electronic Monitoring) Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 12 Mar 2025

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This Bill amends the Bail Act 2000 to clarify that the court may authorise EM assessors to approve a defendant who is granted bail with an electronic monitoring (EM) condition to be absent from their EM address for court-authorised purposes.
