Maniapoto Claims Settlement Bill
Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.
This bill gives effect to certain matters contained in the Deed of Settlement signed on 11 November 2021 between the Crown and Maniapoto. The Deed will settle all the historical Treaty of Waitangi claims of Maniapoto resulting from acts or omissions by the Crown before 21 September 1992.MP in charge
