Defence (Workforce) Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 19 Sep 2025

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill seeks to support the Chief of Defence Force in managing their workforce when New Zealand Defence Force civilian staff take industrial action, and to ensure that processes for authorising the Armed Forces to conduct the work of public service employees who are taking industrial action are fit for purpose.
