Road User Charges (Temporary RUC Reduction Scheme) Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 09 Mar 2023

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill requires Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, as the collector of road user charges (RUC), to apply a 36% discount to all legislated rates of RUC, time-limited to 3 months, and gives it the power to issue assessments if RUC licences are purchased for distances that are excessive, unreasonable, or otherwise abuse the 3-month reduction.
