Ngāti Maru (Taranaki) Claims Settlement Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 05 Jul 2024

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill gives effect to certain provisions of the deed of settlement, which was signed on 27 February 2021, that settles historical claims of Ngāti Maru, and this bill also records the acknowledgements and apology given by the Crown to Ngāti Maru in the deed.
