Responding to Abuse in Care Legislation Amendment Bill

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This omnibus bill makes legislative changes to improve safety and well-being for children, young people, and adults in care, in response to the report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions.
