Telecommunications (New Regulatory Framework) Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 05 Jul 2024

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

The purpose of this bill is to amend the Telecommunications Act 2001 to: establish a regulatory framework for fibre fixed line access services; remove unnecessary copper fixed line access service regulation; streamline regulatory processes; and provide more regulatory oversight of retail service quality.
