Ombudsmen (Protection of Name) Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 05 Jul 2024

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill will protect the use of the name "Ombudsman" by restricting its use to persons appointed under the Ombudsman Act 1975 or a public sector department or organisation responsible for the administration of the Ombudsman Act 1975.
