Legislation Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 12 May 2023

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill is intended to re-enact the Interpretation Act 1999 in the Legislation Act 2012 and improve the interpretation rules, increase the availability of information about the development and content of new Government-initiated legislation, and update the Legislation Act 2012 to take into account disclosure statements and the status of official electronic versions of legislation.
