Energy (Fuels, Levies, and References) Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 19 May 2023

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill aims to strengthen New Zealand’s fuel resilience and economic security by adding the purpose of meeting the reasonable costs and expenses of the Crown in promoting resilience of engine fuel supplies in New Zealand as an additional purpose for which the petroleum or engine fuel monitoring levy can be applied.
