Education (Protecting Teacher Title) Amendment Bill

Member's Bill
Published date: 01 Nov 2024

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

The intent of this bill is to lift the status of teachers by removing the ability of those who have not gained the recognised teaching qualifications from representing themselves as "teachers" by using that title.
