Foreign Affairs (Consular Loans) Amendment Bill

Government Bill
Published date: 05 Jul 2024

Bills are proposals to make a new law or to change an existing one. Only Parliament can pass a bill. Each bill goes through several stages, giving MPs and the public the chance to have their say.

This bill provides express statutory authority for the Minister of Foreign Affairs to continue to issue consular loans, consistent with New Zealand's consular functions, to New Zealand citizens and permanent residents where exceptional circumstances exist.
